Your Home Can Be a Smart Home

Automate your life with a complete line of automation products, running through the same system that protects the house.

  • One app, not five
  • Custom Smart Scenes
  • Works with your alarm

Have you asked yourself, did I leave the lights on? Did I set the alarm? Is the garage door closed? With home automation you can check from your phone, computer or tablet, and close the garage door from wherever you happen to be standing.

Automate your life with our complete line of automation products. Our automation works through the Total Connect remote service we offer, so it is one app rather than one app per device. You can turn on your lights, set your thermostat, open your garage door, or unlock your door from anywhere in the world.

Serving Polk County: Lake Wales, Winter Haven, Bartow, Haines City, Lakeland, Dundee, Frostproof, Auburndale, Polk City, Davenport, Fort Meade, Lake Alfred, and the surrounding Central Florida communities. Call (863) 223-8324 for a free assessment.

The problems automation actually solves

  • Leaving the house and not being able to remember whether the alarm was set
  • A garage door left open all day because nobody looked in the mirror on the way out
  • Cooling an empty house all week while you are away, or coming home to one at ninety degrees
  • Letting a cleaner, a contractor or a family member in when you cannot be there
  • A house that looks obviously empty every evening while you are north for the summer
  • Five different apps from five different brands that do not know about each other
  • Wanting to know the moment a specific door opens, without the alarm going off

Smart Scenes: where automation stops being a gimmick

You can also set Smart Scenes and custom automate your devices to go on and off at a set schedule, or trigger by another means. Smart Scenes let you group automation together.

  1. 1

    Coming home

Say you are coming home from work and you want the entry lights to come on, the thermostat to drop to 72 degrees, the front yard lights to come on and the alarm system to disarm. We can set all of those commands to happen at once with a Smart Scene.

  2. 2

    Leaving

One action arms the system, closes the garage door, sets the thermostat back, and turns the lights off behind you. The scene that stops you having to remember anything is usually the one people use most.

  3. 3

    Away for the season

For a house that sits empty over the summer, lights that vary rather than repeat, a thermostat holding a safe temperature to protect the house from Florida humidity, and alerts if anything opens. This is the scene that matters most to seasonal residents.

  4. 4

    Letting someone in

A unique code for a cleaner, a contractor or a family member that works only on the days it should, sends you a notification when it is used, and can be removed the moment you want it gone.

What we can automate

The possibilities are effectively endless, but these are the ones people actually use.

Lighting and climate

  • Interior and exterior lighting on schedule, on sunset, or on a trigger
  • Thermostat control and setback, checked and changed from your phone
  • Temperature alerts if the house goes above or below a limit while you are away
  • Lighting scenes that respond to an alarm event, because a dark house is where an intruder is comfortable

Doors, locks and access

  • Smart locks with unique codes per person
  • Garage door open, close and status from anywhere
  • Notification when a specific door is opened, without arming the alarm
  • Automatic locking at a set time each night

Security integration

  • Arm and disarm from the app
  • Live video from your cameras in the same place as everything else
  • Custom alerts tailored to what you actually want to know about
  • Event history showing who armed, disarmed or unlocked what, and when

Common Questions

Home Automation FAQs

Do I need a security system to have automation?

Our automation runs through Total Connect, which is the remote service attached to the security system, so the two go together. That is deliberate rather than a limitation: automation that knows whether the house is armed, and lighting that responds when an alarm trips, is worth considerably more than a smart bulb that does not know anything is happening.

What does automation cost per month?

Automation is part of Total Connect Remote Services, which starts at $5.99 a month on top of your monitoring. The devices themselves are a one-off cost that depends on what you want to control, and you get that in writing after we have talked through what you actually use.

Can I control it when I am out of the country?

Yes. Anywhere with an internet connection. That is the case seasonal residents care about most, and it is the one we set up most often.

What happens if the internet goes down?

The security system keeps reporting to the central station over its cellular path, so protection is unaffected. Remote control of automation devices needs a connection, so scheduled scenes continue to run locally while remote commands wait until the connection returns.

Can you set this up in a house I am renting out?

Yes, and short-term rental owners in the Davenport and Four Corners area are a good part of who asks. Unique codes per guest, notifications when doors open, thermostat limits, and the ability to remove access the moment a stay ends are the features that matter there.

Do I have to replace my thermostat and locks?

The devices we control are ones that speak to the system, so a standard thermostat or a mechanical deadbolt will need replacing with a compatible one. What we would not do is tell you to replace everything at once. Start with the two or three things you would actually use and add from there.

Does automation still work if the internet is down?

Scheduled scenes continue to run locally, and the security system keeps reporting to the central station over cellular. What needs a connection is you sending a command remotely, and those resume when the connection returns.

How many devices can I control?

More than most households end up wanting. The practical limit is not the system, it is how many things you will genuinely use, which for almost everyone settles at lights, thermostat, garage door and a lock or two. We would rather set up four things you use every day than twenty you turn off after a month.

Already have a system on the wall?

We test it, tell you honestly what is worth keeping, and take over the monitoring.
